The Roswell City Council has awarded a $4.2 million construction contract to Vertical Earth Inc. for the Sun Valley Drive extension.

Vertical Earth submitted the lowest of six bids submitted for the job, according to a staff report. Sun Valley is to be extended from Alpharetta Highway (Ga. 9) to Warsaw Road.

Fulton County will reimburse Roswell $500,181 to relocate a water line under a previously approved memorandum of understanding.

About $2.6 million was available in Sun Valley construction accounts, so the Council also approved a $1.3 million budget amendment to allocate money from the General Fund balance to cover the difference plus allow $130,325 for contingency.
