The Roswell City Council has approved a $328,998 contract to create a crosswalk at Saddle Creek Drive and Houze Road (Ga. 140).

The contract, awarded to Tople Construction and Engineering Inc., also calls for the construction of a 10-foot-wide multi-use path from Rounsaville Road to Saddle Creek, with rectangular rapid flashing beacons to cross Houze.

“This multi-use path will give the western side of Saddle Creek pedestrian connectivity to the swim and tennis facility on the eastern side,” staff said in an agenda item report. Also, the Houze roadway will be widened for 600 feet to incorporate a new median island for the pedestrian crossing, staff said.

The work will be funded by $100,000 budgeted for the Ga. 140 Sidewalk Extension Project, and $200,000 transferred from the Sidewalk Connectivity Project and $50,000, from the Speed Management and Pedestrian Safety Program, staff said.
