The Insurance Services Office has upgraded the city of Roswell’s Public Protection Classification from class 3 to class 2, indicating an improved and high-quality capability to respond to and fight structure fires.

The new rating becomes effective July 1. City official said the reclassification may affect underwriting and pricing of a variety of commercial and personal insurance coverage for city residents and businesses.

The classification is based on a number of factors, including the quality of a community’s emergency communications systems, fire department equipment, staffing and training and community efforts to reduce fire risks.
