A survey called "Connecting Vision to Results: Support for Downtown Redevelopment" has been posted by Powder Springs based upon Mayor Al Thurman's January State of the City address.

Asking for a “yes” or “no” response, the nine statements are:

  • City should take no action; downtown is okay as it is.
  • City/DDA (Downtown Development Authority) assemble and acquire properties for public amenity such as a park.
  • City/DDA assemble and acquire properties to sell to developer for commercial/retail uses.
  • City/DDA assemble and acquire properties to sell to developer for mix of housing options (cottages, townhomes, apartments).
  • City/DDA assemble and acquire properties to sell to developers to redevelop as mixed use development.
  • City sell public property to developers interested in acquiring public property for redevelopment.
  • City look only at areas north of Marietta Street between town square and trail.
  • City look only at areas south of Marietta Street.
  • City look at areas north and south of Marietta Street.
