The plane was able to land without landing gear just before 6 p.m.

According to Volusia County spokeswoman Joanne Magley, the plane's landing gear would not fully extend.

The pilot spent about 90 minutes circling the airport to burn off fuel before attempting the risky belly landing.

Both people on board, who were not identified, were uninjured. Two people were seen exiting the plane after a successful landing and running away from the plane. The two later embraced with relief.

The Piper Aztec is registered to Daytona Beach-based Ace Tomato Co., Magley said in a statement.

The incident did not interrupt other flights landing and taking off at the airport, she said.
