A Gwinnett County pet store is searching for three of its pure bred puppies. They were bought with what police say was a fake credit card.

Natalie Drag is looking for a dog for herself. The last time she was in Puppies Galore in Lawrenceville, she fell in love with bulldog puppy.

"It was a little sleepy at first, and then when you started playing with it, it was just so sweet," Drag said. "I know a lot of people who have gotten dogs here, and they love them."

Now that she's ready for it, she's heartbroken. The puppy she wanted is one of three purebred puppies the store is actively looking forward.

The bulldog, along with a toy poodle and Yorkshire terrier, were bought last week in two separate purchases.

"They ran the card through. Everything went through. We called the company, and they said, yeah, everything looks good on all three," said store manager Stephen Greaves.

Everything was fine until the next day when managers at Puppies Galore got a call from the bank.

"The credit card company called us back and told us it did not go through, and it was a fraud," Greaves said.

The store is out more than $6,000 from the puppies. But the loss of money is secondary to the wellbeing of the animals who they fear may be in danger, especially the toy poodle.

"We're syringe feeding it, because it's a preemie baby, and if you're not feeding it every six hours, it can expire in about 72 hours," Greaves said.

"I was more concerned about my babies, so that's what we're trying to do is just recover the babies," Drag said.

Lawrenceville police are aware of the situation and are investigating.
