The Peachtree Corners city council will consider the adoption of a social media plan for the city at its meeting April 19. The resolution, if adopted, will establish guidelines for posting material on social media platforms and accounts maintained by the city.

Guidelines would allow the city to announce events of general public interest that are sponsored by non-profit organizations. Submissions must also be open to the public.

The policy would limit promotion of events to those in Peachtree Corners, but would allow for events at nearby schools including Berkeley Lake Elementary, Stripling Elementary, Duluth Middle, Summerour Middle, Duluth High and Norcross High schools.

The policy would also prohibit advertisement for private individuals, firms, corporations or imply in any manner endorsement of any specific commercial product, commodity, service or business. Estate and garage sales ads would also be prohibitied.
