Peachtree City’s mayor and city council will hold three public hearings for the next fiscal year’s millage rate at 7:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. on Aug. 7 and again at 6:30 p.m. on Aug. 16 at City Hall.

The proposed rate is 6.232 mills for maintenance and operation, the same as this year. Technically, because the property tax digest increased by 4.99 percent, the millage rate is considered a tax increase under state law. However, Peachtree City’s bond millage rate will drop by 0.10 mills, making the total millage drop to 6.408 mills, down slightly from the 2017 rate of 6.505 mills. Following the final millage hearing, the City Council will vote on the measure during its regular Aug. 16 meeting.
