As a matter of procedure, Peachtree City has lifted the multifamily rezoning moratorium on 37 acres of undeveloped property off Clubhouse Drive along Lake McIntosh.

The property owner, GVI-Peachtree City, LLC, and a developer, Crescent Communities, want to build a mixed-use project there consisting of single-family, multifamily and townhome units as well as office and retail space. City Manager Jon Rorie explained that lifting the moratorium allows the entities to apply for rezoning but does not guarantee it. The ordinance, which is site-specific, was established in 1999 and must be renewed annually by the City Council.

The council voted 5-0 on March 21 to lift the moratorium for the lakeside property so the rezoning application could be submitted. The site is currently zoned general industrial and sits near another undeveloped parcel that the council rejected for rezoning and condominium development last November.
