Peachtree City police are responding to what the city calls “a pretty drastic increase in DUI collisions this year” by joining the state’s Operation Zero Tolerance Campaign through July 5.
The city said so far this year there have been 10 arrests for driving under the influence, compared to only three last year, “a large increase for a town our size.” Police officers will be conducting “concentrated enforcement” and sobriety checkpoints through the July 4 holiday weekend.
Residents are being asked to designate sober drivers and to report impaired drivers to 911.
