A free, informational workshop for North Fulton County residents will offer guidance for homeowners with septic waste systems.

The Fulton County Department of Public Works will host the workshop with the cities of Alpharetta, Roswell and Milton from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 29, at the Fulton Customer Service Center, 11575 Maxwell Road, Alpharetta.

Topics to be covered include the basics of how a septic tank system works; do’s and don’ts about what you can put down the drain; maintenance, and when to call a professional. Fulton Board of Health representatives will lead the workshop and provide information. Written materials will be handed out for future reference.

"Septic tank problems can cause big issues for you and our waterways," according to a workshop announcement. "Most of these problems can be prevented with simple maintenance and best practices. Attend the workshop and get the facts."
