The Milton City Council has approved a $29,730 professional services agreement to have Wolverton & Associates Inc. do a “scoping” study of proposed improvements to Morris Road.

Morris is to be widened from two to four lanes from Webb Road to Bethany Bend, a distance of about 0.6 miles, tying into the McGinnis Ferry Road widening at Bethany. A landscaped median, turn lanes, multi-use trail and intersection improvements at Webb also are proposed.

“The purpose of this concept scoping is to evaluate existing and future traffic, conduct an environmental screening, and (develop) a concept plan,” according to a staff report to the council. “The scoping will provide more detailed project cost and support exploring additional funding sources.”

The work will be a Tier 1 project funded by the Transportation Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax approved in November 2016 by Fulton County voters outside Atlanta.
