The city of Milton’s FY 2016 budget was presented during Wednesday’s city council meeting. The $26.05 million dollar general fund document is based on a millage rate of 4.732 mills, the same as in previous years. It also projects a $4.9 million surplus.

The proposed budget provides for a 2.5 percent raise for all city employees. The spending plan also proposes doing a green print plan and moving ahead with a general obligation bond issue for preserving green space at a cost of $200,000. It also proposes hiring several public safety personnel, including three new paramedics who would go to an understaffed fire station.

The budget also appropriates nearly $7.4 million to the capital improvements fund. City officials are proposing to spend $1.5 million on the city hall construction project and $2 million to acquire future park land.
