Veterans in DeKalb County will have access to a wide range of resources at a free expo event next weekend.

Hosted by DeKalb District 4 Commissioner Steve Bradshaw, the second annual Veterans Resource Expo will offer information about housing, Veterans Affairs benefits, caregiver and legal services, employment and training, mental health, telehealth and women’s wellness programs, according to a statement from the county. Local veterans organizations will also serve food to attendees.

The expo will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 14 at the Central DeKalb Senior Center at Mason Mill Park. The address for the senior center is 1346 McConnell Dr., Decatur, GA 30033.

“Last year, the expo served more than 80 veterans and we are hoping to surpass that number this year. This event is something that is very close to my heart,” Bradshaw said in a statement.

Bradshaw himself is a veteran. He served as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army, and was trained as a tank commander after graduating from Armstrong State University. During the First Gulf War, he did tours in Germany, Fort Knox, Ky., Fort Benning, Saudi Arabia and Iraq. He left active military service at the rank of captain in 1993.
