Two men are all right after their canoe overturned on the Chattahoochee River in Suwanee on Tuesday night, Channel 2 Action News reported.
Officials believe their boat hit some rocks near Settles Bridge Park and capsized, Gwinnett County fire Capt. Tommy Rutledge said.
One of the men was able to get to shore from the water, Rutledge said.
The other man was able to hold on to the canoe and float south until he was able to climb out of the river, Rutledge said. He got a ride to Medlock Bridge Park, where he thought they had parked the car. Upon his arrival, he spoke to officials.
The Forsyth County Fire Department worked with crews from Gwinnett and Johns Creek on an aggressive search along the river, Forsyth Capt. Jason Shivers said.
The Gwinnett police helicopter assisted with the search from the air, Rutledge said.
