Marietta added new features recently to its online permit process, SagesGov.

This new module “will significantly enhance” the permitting and inspections experience for citizens and contractors within Marietta, according to Marietta Communications Manager Lindsey Wiles.

These new additions to the city’s SagesGov platform provide a single online location from submission, plan review, fees, permitting, mobile inspections and certificate of occupancy, she said.

It creates standardized, paperless building, with site and trade permit information throughout the life cycle of a project until a certificate of completion or occupancy is issued - all from a single online location, she added.

Wiles said it allows for improved email and online communication between citizens, builders, contractors and staff that produces higher quality submissions of permit applications and plan reviews and a faster approval process of permits and inspections.

The new features allow for customized workflows, an audit trail and project tracking, she said.

Thus, the system is a more efficient use of staff and customer time, she added.

Inspectors in the field can use their mobile devices to perform inspections, take pictures and enter feedback, Wiles said.

A secure online account must be created by citizens and contractors to submit the plans and communicate with staff by receiving notifications throughout the plan review process, she added.
