We're learning more about the man accused of attacking a woman and her granddaughter inside their Lawrenceville home.

Andre Burton was arrested Tuesday night. Police say he was naked and covered in blood when he broke into the home on Saratoga Drive.

According to the investigators, Burton was searching for a gun and when the 73-year-old woman said she did not have one, police say Burton punched her in the face and threw a printer and a dresser at her.

"One of the patio furniture chairs was inside the home and there was broken glass, there were keys inside and there was blood all over," Cpl. Michele Pihera with the Gwinnett County Police Department told Channel 2's Tony Thomas.

Phyllis Davis was hospitalized for a serious neck injury and deep cuts to her face.

Davis' husband went to the police department Friday to thank the officers who helped arrest Burton. He broke into tears as he talked about the trauma she and her 14-year-old granddaughter Tucker went through.

"She's got a big bruise on her face about the size of a big guy's fist right here. I don't know how she stopped from getting teeth knocked out," said Wendall Davis. "She's got two broken bones in her neck."

Davis was able to all 911 but wasn't able to give her location.

"Every time he would hit her and knock her down. And while she was down he would kick her," Davis said.

Tucker was cut in several places. She declined to talk to Channel 2 Action News, but her father Rowdy Davis said he was thankful his daughter was there to support her grandmother.

"I'm so thankful they were there for each other. I don't' think that if he had only one person to beat, I don't think that person would have survived.

Officers were able to triangulate where Davis from her 911 call.  Four officers responded and are credited with saving the two women's lives.

"They saved her life and my granddaughter's life. It's just that simple they did a great job and they never get enough credit for what they do," Davis said. "I think we will recover from the physical, and I don't know about the other stuff."

In court Thursday, Burton told the judge he was a former professional basketball player. Channel 2 Action News looked him up online and it appears he played basketball internationally.
