The Loganville City Council recently approved an update to its Comprehensive Plan. This was part of a state-mandated, county-wide effort to update each local government’s comp plan.

The comprehensive plan serves as a decision-making guide for local governments and community leaders. Based on input from the public and a steering committee, the plan identifies needs and opportunities, goals and policies, land use practices, and an implementation framework for key elements including ones related to economic development, housing, transportation, natural and cultural resources, as well as community facilities and services.

Among the highlights, the plan notes the city should continue efforts to purchase property and demolish houses to eliminate blight, provide new interest and quality housing, and potentially increase revenues.

Another opportunity notes stakeholders identified the purchase of water from Walton and Gwinnett counties as a weakness and recommends finding of a local source. Downtown redevelopment and connecting communities to trails for walking and bicycling were also noted as high priorities for the city to consider.
