Following a public hearing on the matter, the Lilburn City Council voted unanimously Jan. 12 to allow expansion at the AutoMax on Lawrenceville Highway. The auto sales retailer plans to develop the adjacent undeveloped property as an overflow parking lot. Access will be through the existing parking lot and there are no plans to develop the front half of the property.

The city council approved the special use permit but denied an additional request to reduce landscaping buffers and suggested the parking lot lights be cut off around 10 or 11 p.m. to help address concerns by a neighbor who’s property is located on a downward slope from the AutoMax property.
