The cost of doing business in Gwinnett cities might be surprising. The Lawrenceville City Council on Monday approved what is referred to as “small purchases” totaling $160,370 for purchases made in August for payment in September.

Expenses range from basic office supplies and postage to vehicle maintenance and gas and water distribution equipment. Several purchases totaling $404 went for K-9 Unit care, $16,792 in repairs and maintenance of vehicles for various departments and $3,863 in charges related to police uniforms and equipment.

Many of the largest of the “small” purchases are for providing natural gas distribution within the city. These include regulator stations, industrial and commercial meters as well as tools and equipment for more than $60,200. The city also paid $107 for property damage to related to water distribution and $1,994 charged against the economic development department.
