The Lawrenceville City Council voted recently to adopt a resolution to set boundaries for a downtown entertainment district. This coincides with the council’s vote to approve an alcohol ordinance to define indoor special event facility space to allow for catered events without an onsite kitchen and provide for the size of the venue and seating capacity.

To enforce the ordinance the city needed to also provide for a Downtown Entertainment District and establish distance requirements related to inside and outside the district.

The alcoholic beverage code permits the city to set the boundaries of a Downtown Entertainment District by adopting a map defining the area.
