Following a final public hearing on the matter, the Lawrenceville City Council voted Nov. 5 to amend the city’s noise ordinance to address concerns about late-night fireworks. The revised amendment allows fireworks from 10 a.m. to midnight Jan. 1, the last Saturday and Sunday in May, July 3, July 4, the first Monday in Sept. and Dec. 31. On New Year’s Eve fireworks may continue until 1 a.m. of Jan. 1.

The ordinance prohibits the use or ignition of consumer fireworks “that willfully make, continue, or cause to be made or continued any excessive, or unusually loud noise,” except during the times listed above.
