Johns Creek to kick off summer movie series with animated Spider-Man

Grab the blanket and popcorn to join some neighbors for the kickoff of the summer movie in the park series in Johns Creek this weekend.

The city will be showing free family-friendly flicks June, July and August. There will be activities like an inflatable moon walk starting at 7 p.m.

The kickoff Saturday, June 8, at dusk will feature Marvel’s “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.”

This new iteration is notable not only for being animated and featuring a Spanish-speaking Spider-Man with a black father and Puerto Rican mother — but the film is unique because, finally, it is a really good Spider-Man movie.

It won the 2019 Oscar for best animated feature film and a Golden Globe also for best animated picture.
