The Johns Creek City Council has put its stamp of approval on a strategic economic development plan drafted by a private consulting firm in tandem with city officials.
The plan identifies several target industries including information and medical technology, software publishing and medical services and sets up strategies and programs both to retain existing businesses and recruit new firms.
The document says the city’s strengths include excellent schools, educated residents and good neighborhoods but says it also faces such challenges as traffic congestion and a lack of quality office space.
Among the goals outlined in the plan are: developing the infrastructure to promote balanced growth, positioning the city for economic development and promoting the city’s image.
