Johns Creek officials announced a reduction in taxes with the adoption of a millage rate of 3.552 mills per $1,000 of assessed valuation, and a park bond millage rate of 0.391 mills.
The maintenance and operations millage rate for 2019 is a 12 percent decrease from the advertised rollback rate of 4.042 mills, while the parks bond millage rate is down from the 2018 rate of 0.500 mills, according to a city announcement.
“The final and unanimous vote at the Aug. 19 City Council meeting for the lower rates is the second consecutive tax reduction enacted by the mayor and City Council,” the city said. “At the reduced rate, the total tax levy from the 3.552 millage rate is estimated at $16 million, representing a $2 million overall tax reduction.”
Property taxes account for about 28 percent of the city’s budgeted revenues. Fulton County is calculating final tax bills to include the newly adopted millage rates, and Johns Creek homeowners should receive their final, 2019 tax bills by the end of August, officials said.
