A theology student said two men robbed him at gunpoint early Sunday near the Atlanta University Center campus. It was one day after two Spelman College students were among five people robbed at gunpoint at a park west of the campus.

The Interdenominational Theological Center student said he was walking home from a friend's house around 4 a.m. after studying when two armed men came out of nowhere. He said the thieves took his wallet, cell phone, iPad and bookbag. "We're in exams and literally they have all my books. They took my cellphone and everything," he said.

Atlanta police said the victim told police the robbery occurred in the 400 block of Beckwith Street. "The victim advised that he was approached by two males and both were armed with handguns. The suspects took the victim's wallet, cell phone and bag and then fled on foot," said APD spokesman John Chafee. Officers attempted to locate the suspects but no one was found, Chafee told the AJC Sunday.

In the Saturday incident, the five victims -- two female Spelman students, another woman and two males -- were robbed around 2 a.m. at Dean Rusk Park.  Two of the women were age 19 and the third was 20, and the two males were ages 24 and 26, police said.

Police spokesman Officer John Chafee said the victims were sitting in an area of the park on Sells Avenue when they noticed two men walking nearby.

"The males approached the victims and each pointed a handgun at them," Chafee said in an email. "The suspects ordered the victims to take their clothes off and put them in a pile. The victims were then ordered into a nearby pool and the suspects fled on foot."

The victims' wallets, cell phones and keys were stolen. Chafee said no one was injured during the incident.
