By a vote of the Henry County Board of Commissioners at its May 21 regular meeting, a copy of the county’s “Analysis of Impediments to Fair Housing Choice” for 2019-2023 was approved and authorized for submission to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

According to officials, the document is a review of local regulations and administrative policies, procedures and practices affecting the location, availability, and accessibility of housing as well as an assessment of conditions, both public and private, that affect fair housing choice. The county contracted with Mull and Lonergan Associates, Inc. to prepare the analysis in compliance with the directives of the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program.

According to the resolution approving the document, it “identifies impediments to fair housing choice along with proposed actions to eliminate the barriers.”
