Henry County government officials were notified at the beginning of the month that the county’s bond rating has been upgraded from AA-1 to AAA.

County manager Cheri Hobson-Matthews informed the Board of Commissioners at its Nov. 5 regular meeting. She said that only five other counties — Columbia, Cobb, Fayette, Forsyth and Gwinnett — his Georgia and 147 counties in the entire United States have the AAA rating, which she said signifies “a robust financial position.”

Matthews also noted that the new rating reflects a healthy and growing tax base and that the county has low debt burden and pension liability.
