A budget of about $142.5 million for the 2017 fiscal year was approved by the Henry County Board of Commissioners at its May regular meeting.

It includes funding for a new senior-recreation center coming on line in Hampton and a new fire station along with four-percent salary increases for all employees except public safety (who got a new pay plan voted on separately). About $4 million from the county’s fund balance will be used to replace an expected revenue shortfall, leaving $35 million in fund balance, according to officials.
