Applications are being accepted now for a seven-week program known as the Henry County Citizen’s Academy, which will begin Aug. 6 and continue through Sept. 17, meeting each Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m.

It is designed to help local citizens gain a better understanding of the functions of Henry County government and “help develop a stronger connection with the community,” according to a statement. Participants will learn about services in such areas as administrative support, financial services, public works, public safety, and courts. Classes are free. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age, live or work in Henry County, and be clear of any prior felony arrests as well as any misdemeanor arrests in the past six months.
