Henry County commissioners are calling on the state DOT to get started on the Western Parallel Connector.

The Henry County Board of Commissioners voted at its Aug. 6 to regular meeting to approve a resolution in support of the Georgia Department of Transportation funding and commencing construction of the Western Parallel Connector. This would stretch from Hudson Bridge Road to Jodeco Road just west of I-75. Commissioner Dee Clemmons said that with board support, GDOT would fully fund the project.

County officials pointed out during their presentation that this project as well as the widening of Jonesboro Road have been “on the books” for several years and have been pushed farther and father back on the calendar multiple times.

The resolution calls for GDOT to commence construction of the initial phase of the project and that Henry County “will endeavor to obtain necessary right-of-way by donation or otherwise, to assist in the project.” It also calls for GDOT to commence construction of the initial phase of the Jonesboro Road widening, with the same right-of way efforts by the county.
