The Gwinnett Place Community Improvement District, a self-taxing district that uses additional property taxes to accelerate infrastructure improvements, security enhancements and economic developments in the Gwinnett Place area, have begun efforts to expand its 2017 district boundary.
The goal of the expansion is to enhance the GPCID’s ability to fund improvement projects and engage more property owners to participate in the overall redevelopment efforts of the Gwinnett Place area.
Additional revenue could create new transportation projects, mixed-use and catalyst redevelopment projects. Future transportation projects might include, intersection improvements, additional streetlights, transit improvements and further pedestrian enhancements.
The GPCID currently provides daily security patrols in the district, cleanup and beautification of the area, and tax increment financing for redevelopment projects.
“This is the GPCID’s fifth year expanding the district and we hope to get more property owners involved in these expansion projects to help the CID grow and complete its improvement initiatives,” said Joe Allen, Executive Director of the Gwinnett Place CID.
In 2016, the expansion effort totaled $27 million in appraised property value and now includes 239 commercial properties. Information: www.tinyurl.com/zqvj7fj or www.gwinnettplacecid.com.
