A McDonald’s in Lawrenceville failed its most recent health inspection, Gwinnett County records show.

The fast food spot scored a 51/U on the July 9 inspection, with an inspector finding “ice buildup” on frozen french fries, the report said.

An employee was seen handling raw meat with his bare hands and then touching buttons, doors and utensils before he washed his hands, the report said. Raw meat was not properly separated in storage and open packages of raw chicken were stored above raw beef and fish, according to the report.

The inspector also saw an employee heat eggs to an inadequate temperature, the report said. The eggs were thrown out and a manager told the inspector that the employee had used the wrong cook setting for the eggs.

“McDonald’s maintains high standards and is a leader in the industry with critical food preparation procedures,” the company said in a statement. “We are investigating the issue and looking into the violations as well as providing additional training to everyone involved.”

The Buford Drive restaurant earned a perfect score on its previous inspection in May. Follow-up inspections are typically conducted within 10 days of failures.
