One Gwinnett County library branch is closed today and will remain that way for two weeks while it relocates to some fancy new digs.
The Gwinnett County Public Library's Lilburn branch, located on Hillcrest Road, plans to move into the city's new city hall complex on Oct. 18. The move required it to close Monday.
According to the GCPL news release:
"The Lilburn branch's materials collection, computers, self-checkout machines, and staff offices will be moved over a two-week period. The branch will reopen at the new location on October 18."
It added:
"Book drops will be closed. Please return borrowed items to another GCPL location or hold them until the branch reopens. Fines for items due during the closed period will be waived."
The library's new location will be part of a larger project on the northern corner of Church and Main streets. The development will also include a 24,000-square-foot government building and a clock tower. Earlier this year, the Gwinnett County Public Library closed all of its branches to revamp its technological offerings.
The Lawrenceville branch now offers self access during off hours.
