Gwinnett and Hall County officials have agreed to help each other out in the event of a fire or other emergency.

The Gwinnett Board of Commissioners recently approved an automatic aid agreement with their northern neighbors for fire and emergency services. The agreement also allows firefighters from both counties to train together.

Gwinnett Fire Chief Bill Myers said the new agreement formalizes a long-standing verbal agreement to share equipment and resources across county borders. He said it will help reduce response times and provide adequate coverage along the county line.
