The Lawrenceville City Council voted recently to approve $370,365 for asphalt paving, milling, patching, striping and associated work for approximately 5.33 miles on various city streets. A Local Maintenance and Improvement Grant will fund $243,818 of the project, with $126,547 coming from the city’s Repairs and Maintenance - Street Department budget. Pittman Construction Company Inc., the lowest of three bidders will do the work.

Some streets were removed from the original bid due to available funding. Those remaining include Atha Street between Jackson Street and East Crogan, Bank Street between Atha and East Crogan, Booker Street (Concrete Street) between Neal Boulevard and Bailey Street, Dogwood Lane from Hurricane Shoals Road, Glenn Edge Drive from Forest Place and Harlee Lane from Wayside Drive.

Additional paving will include Nash Street from Neal Boulevard to South Clayton Street, Pine Forest Drive from Maplewood to Old Timber Road, Plainview Drive from Gwinnett Drive to Constitutional Boulevard, Saddle Bow Drive from First Street, South Culver Street from Luckie Street to Nash Street and Turner Drive from Simonton Road.
