Volunteers needed for tree planting event
Friends of Dearborn Park in Decatur aims to clean, spruce area with community pride
The Decatur group Friends of Dearborn Park is looking for 25-30 volunteers to help with a park clean-up and tree planting community project. Volunteers are asked to meet at the entrance of the park, off Deerwood Drive at 8:45 am. The morning will entail picking up litter, planting shrubbery and small trees, and serving beverages and snacks. The goal is to rally community supporters throughout the City of Decatur and DeKalb County to foster pride in public parks and recreational spaces, and act as a conduit for neighbors meeting neighbors.
Realtor Kevin Polite, managing partner at HausZwei Homes and Decatur resident, donated 25 trees and shrubs that will be planted near the front entrance of the park, based on a design donated by Plants Creative Landscaping based in Decatur.
