Five Georgia colleges with engineering programs have formed a new consortium to promote the profession and work on the challenges they face, officials announced Wednesday.

The founding members of the Georgia Consortium of Engineering Schools are: Georgia Tech, Georgia Southern University, Mercer University, Southern Polytechnic State University and University of Georgia.

The group's first meeting will be May 23 at Southern Poly.
