Forsyth County Commissioner Ralph J. “Pete” Amos said he won’t run for re-election in November. Amos cited growing business demands as one reason for leaving elective office. He is a state licensed building contractor and master plumber.

A North Georgia native, Amos was first elected from District 1 in 2010 and was re-elected in 2014. Prior to serving as a commissioner, he was on the county planning board and served as its chairman for six years.

Amos cited as among his signature accomplishments the passage of the SPLOST that funded construction of the county’s new jail and courthouse, road improvements countywide and various park improvements.
