Several roads around downtown Stockbridge will be closed today for filming of a TV series based on a book by author Stephen King.

Cable channel HBO is filming a police standoff in the series “The Outsider” in Stockbridge from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. The scene will include emergency vehicles, SWAT officers and snipers.

Simulated gunfire may be heard in the surrounding area throughout the filming, the city said in a press release. Henry County Police Officers will be on site to ensure public safety.

The city plans to close the following streets for the production: Burke Street from North Henry Boulevard to Love Street, Jim Clark Drive from Burke Street to Martin Luther King  Sr. Heritage Trail, and Martin Luther King Sr. Trail to the driveway of the Food Depot.

The westbound lanes of North Henry Boulevard from Tye Street to East Atlanta Road will shift to a single center lane during the production. Eastbound traffic will flow as normal.

"We are excited to have this major film production come to our great city,"  Stockbridge City Manager Randy Knighton said. "Stockbridge continues to be a prime location for a variety of productions.”
