Fayette County had the second-highest high school graduation rate in metro Atlanta for 2017, and ranked third in the state for systems with more than 1,000 students.

The state average was 80.6 percent. Fayette County’s average was 89.3 percent of seniors graduating, a slight decline from 91.2 percent in 2016.

Starr’s Mill High School had a 93.6 rate, an increase of 2.2 percent over last year. However, graduation rates at McIntosh High (91.8 percent), Fayette County (85.6 percent), Sandy Creek (82.7 percent), and Whitewater (92.3 percent) decreased by 1.6 percent, 1.7 percent, 2.1 percent and 5.3 percent, respectively.
