A new mission statement for Fayette County Public Schools was unveiled at the Board of Education’s most recent work session. The draft was produced by a committee of stakeholders that includes parents, teachers and staff members.

The new version states, “Our mission is to forge and equip a community of learners who confidently face challenges, embrace opportunities, and positively impact our world.” Although the board has not yet voted on the official adoption, Superintendent Joseph Barrow said the wording reflects the concept that “children are more than a single test score. … It’s a bigger idea than that.”
