Impact fees more than doubled last year in Roswell and 739 new business licenses were issued, generating 1,066 new jobs, according to a “report card” of key economic indicators issued by Roswell Inc., the economic development entity for the city.
Impact fees jumped from $522,627 in 2015 to more than $1.3 million in 2016 as the city implemented its new impact fee structure, according to the report card, which was released at Roswell Inc.’s Real Estate & Development Outlook event.
The city issued 1,110 construction permits valued at $254.9 million total last year; the permits figure was up from 996 in 2015. Roswell also saw 720 jobs created in its opportunity zone – areas of the city where job tax credits are available – bringing the total number of jobs created there since its inception in 2010 to 5,125.
A total of 2,410 persons attended Roswell Inc. events and programs last year. The organization launched an Economic Development Alliance, hosted its biannual Roswell Leadership Focus trip, and hosted the annual North Fulton Opportunity Outlook with the Greater North Fulton Chamber of Commerce and other North Fulton cities.
“In terms of economic and business success, 2016 was a great year for Roswell,” said Steve Stroud, executive director of Roswell Inc.
