Duluth has tentatively adopted a millage rate of 6.551 mills, the same rate as last year, which will result in a 4.70 percent increase in property taxes.

The city will tentatively conduct public hearings to discuss the tax increase at 10 a.m. July 22, 5:30 p.m. July 29, and 6 p.m. Aug.12 at Duluth City Hall, 3167 Main St.

The rollback millage rate to avoid a tax increase would be no more than 6.257 mills. The proposed tax increase for a home valued at $200,000 is approximately $23.52 and the proposed tax increase for commercial property valued at $202,000 is approximately $23.76.
