The Duluth city council heard proposals last week for updating the city’s Park Master Plan. Parks Director Kathy Marelle noted since the latest plan was introduced in 2007, several city parks have been developed. The city feels an update of the plan is vital in identifying future capital projects to meet the changing needs of the community.

Duluth issued a request for proposal in February for updating the Parks Strategic Master Plan. Four proposals have been received and evaluated.

The Review Committee is recommending The Foresite Group as the company best qualified to recognize the qualities of the Duluth community in their project plan. Their proposal includes a great deal of public involvement, and an aggressive schedule for completion of the plan.

On April 11, The Duluth city council will consider awarding a contract to the Foresite Group for $58,000 plus 10 percent contingency for a total not to exceed $63,800.
