The Duluth City Council unanimously approved a Title VI Outreach Plan to engage citizens who may not be traditionally included in public events. The plan is part of the city’s Locally Administered Project Transportation Certification reporting as required by Georgia Department of Transportation.
The plan includes minorities as well as limited English proficiency speakers.
The city must make reasonable efforts to identify and include these populations in city events whether federal funding is used for these events or not.
The draft plan outlines the city’s demographics, identifies underserved communities, barriers to participation, and suggests strategies for improving minority participation in city events. The dynamic plan will require annual updates to meet the changing needs of the city.
