A longtime employee of the DeKalb County District Attorney office has announced she will run for Superior Court Clerk next year.

Oretha Brown-Johnson, a 20-year employee of the DA’s office, oversees the department that manages about 16,000 cases a year for the 10 county Superior Court divisions.

Debra DeBerry has been in the job since March, appointed by Gov. Nathan Deal after incumbent Linda Carter resigned. Carter has since sued, saying her resignation was invalid.
