The Duluth City Council has approved the use of 2009 SPLOST funds to purchase and install two LED scoreboards for fields three and four at Bunten Road Park. According to Parks and Recreation Director Kathy Marelle, “The existing boards were installed in 1998 and are designed with incandescent light bulb technology. Given the age of the boards and their outdated technology, replacing them with LED boards will result in a reduced maintenance expense.”

Purchase and installation of the scoreboards will cost approximately $4,000 and falls within the approved Bunten Road Project budget. The city explored the option of corporate sponsorship of the scoreboards, but noted previous programs no longer exist.
