Failure to remove stickers resulted in a sticky situation for two Carroll County men charged with theft of Coweta County property, police said.

Gary Christopher Langley, 25, of Roopville, and Timothy Blake Gore, 35, of Whitesburg, were arrested and charged with burglary after taking tools stolen from a utility shed at the Coweta County Fairgrounds, said Coweta Maj. James Yarbrough.

The men stole chainsaws, leaf blowers and lawnmowers from the shed late Monday or early Tuesday, said Yarbrough, and tried to pawn them at a Carroll County pawn shop. The clerk at Carrollton Jewelry and Pawn was more observant than the alleged thieves and noticed the tools all bore a sticker saying they were the property of Coweta County.

The pawn shop clerk called the Coweta sheriff's office and asked if the county had any missing tools.

"We were investigating the burglary when they called," said Yarbrough.

Carroll police held the men until Coweta deputies arrived.

Langley and Gore will also be charged with breaking into two government vehicles. A fuel card was stolen from one vehicle, but the men were unable to successfully obtain gasoline.

"They weren't too bright," said Yarbrough.
