Fulton County Commissioner Liz Hausmann is questioning whether some of her colleagues may have violated the state’s open meetings law at a town hall on Sunday. A quorum of four commissioners — Bill Edwards, Emma Darnell, Joan Garner and Robb Pitts — sat together and heard residents vent about GOP lawmakers’ efforts to reshape the county government.

The meeting at the Darnell Senior Multi-Purpose Facility was publicized through news releases, but not advertised in the legal organ newspaper. Interim County Attorney Larry Ramsey said he would research whether the meeting was illegal. Edwards called Hausmann’s objections “asinine,” and other commissioners said the meeting was no secret to the public.
